Out of their own hearts... ![]() Message preached August 31, 2003 Julien Baptist Church Title: "Out of their own hearts..." Theme: False propets and their characteristics Text: Ezekiel 13:1-8 Intro: Here in our text we find that God has commanded Ezekiel to prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy out of their own hearts. Now if we just skim through the first few verses of Ezekiel 13 we will miss where the Lord said concerning the prophets of Israel "..them that prophesy out of their own hearts..." The reason this is so important to notice is that God is accusing (and rightly so) these prophets of prophesying under false pretenses. They have no message from God and what they are standing to tell the people is what the prophets wanted to prophesy and what the people wanted to hear. Before the NT Scriptures where completed we find that GOD'S TRUE PROPHETS would receive the message from God. It would be exactly what God wanted and it would rebuke, reprove and when needed it would also encourage the people. However, in those times they had false prophets just as we do today. Lord willing, I just want us to look and see what God had to say about these "prophets". I also want you to notice how many so called preachers are just like them. I. They were not lead by the Spirit of God but the Spirit of self. V 3 a II. They have seen nothing. V 3 b III. They are like foxes. V 4 Song of Solomon 2:15 A. They destroy rather than build. B. They hinder rather than help . IV. They are unwilling to stand. V 5 V. They lie about about God's message. V 6 a VI. They lie about their call. V 6 b-7 VII. God is against them.
